For years the payout from the Alaska Permanent Fund
Corporation known as the PFD has been what many Alaskans consider as a
staple. This annual payout from the
earnings of the Permanent Fund although seemingly “small” in the overall
financial picture of most homes is still a part of the equation for many
Alaskans. Yes, it’s a “perk” of living
in Alaska as was almost unfettered access to subsistence living… But if a few
folks that support continued unfettered growth of Our government have their
way, the PFD will soon be a memory of what Alaska was.
The State of Alaska is facing some serious fiscal choices
right now and We must realize that the current level of government growth is
unsustainable and unnecessary. Relying
upon volatile markets to be predictable makes absolutely no sense. Alaska has to cut back government to
sustainable levels without relying upon further financial requirements from the
private sector. It can be done…
