Ramp It Up...

When I use this phrase, it doesn’t necessarily mean to hit the streets on the spot. Nothing ever get’s ramped up without the actual ramp. In this instance I am referring to building a solid base for that ramp.  Until this is done, nothing is getting ramped or amped. 

Herein lies the problem... No one is willing to step up and actually become part of that aforementioned solid base. This can be for all manner of reasons... but we can all come up with excuses not to do anything. If something is truly of concern, then the time should be found to cooperate and participate in making something actually happen. Memes & trolling are for entertainment and information exploitation, not actually making things happen. 

And herein lies another problematic facet of the socio-political situation in the United States... the current air about issues is toxic. Most of the noxious behaviors are aimed at totally silencing any dissent from the pseudo-Wokeness that is permeating our nation. The supposedly Woke crowd have made it their mission to absolutely destroy anyone that doesn’t bow to their evil.  

This makes even slowing down the gradual incursions upon Liberty being forced upon Us even more difficult than ever before. Under their own twisted logic of wanting to be accepted for whatever perversions they adore... they are working diligently to silence others’ opinions and even take actions to cause harm. In acting this way and publicly persecuting others, they are in fact hypocritically promoting hatred. 

This is disappointing when one looks at how far our nation has fallen under the guise of false liberty. Nowadays all it takes is a couple of rainbow stealing loudmouths to turn a community against others. Under the guise of ‘being nice’ to allow for accepting abominable behaviors and weak mindedness, American has become a cesspool of sin and secularism.

By continuing to ‘play nice’ and avoid confrontation... Christians have allowed our society to falter irreparably.  The sit and wait attitude has allowed Satan to further entrench those people that work to subvert God and disavow decency.  God is clear about allowing Evil notions to pervade and become the focus of living. No where in the Gospel will We find where it says that being cowardly in the face of Evil is acceptable.

Thursday Thoughts...Redacted

 Now that I’m having to use my creative outlet of writing under advice to avoid topics concerning my local and state governments, sometimes finding something else to write about can be quite the challenge.  I am naturally drawn to topics that more directly affect me, my family and my friends, thus why I’ve concentrated on local, regional and state topics.  Whether you agree with my positions on issues, I still have the right to publish my views on them as long as I am civil and factual.  For example… the taxation issue that I’ve brought up many times before.

 

Yes, the government needs funding and I strongly believe that if they want to take that funding from people that have already paid income taxes, local governments should diligently strive to constrain spending so that it does not exceed their legal income. If the local government is mandated to spend more money than it has, it should first seek full-relief from the entity that is mandating any spending.  The next course of action is to draw up a responsible and detailed fiscal plan and present it in-full to the constituents.  Then if more funding is needed and the government decides to use taxation to acquire it…  they must follow the prescribed method by which to enact a taxation schedule.

 

The State of Alaska Statutes clearly states that modifications and additional taxes must be approved by a majority of the Voters in a public Referendum and the City of Dillingham Municipal Code references this exact statute.  But this is not how things operate here in Dillingham Alaska. Despite the fact that this has been brought to the attention of the Mayor, City Council and Manager’s office many times before, not one thing has been done to remedy this fault. 

 

Why is that?

Yet another day comes around as I languish under the cloud of being the subject of an “ongoing investigation” by the City of Dillingham. I am told that they cannot discuss it but am also aware that it has been discussed with other citizens. Maybe I should just crank up the Spotify and try and drown out the plethora of questions that I have about this in my own head. 

I’ve been advised to have no communications about this issue with anyone. I was also advised to ‘back off’ writing about anything concerning the City of Dillingham and the State of Alaska. So if y’all happen upon my blog and see something that may seem out of place... remember that my posts are randomness.

Beating A Deadhorse?

Just reading the title of this permanent ordinance naming an ‘emergency’ says a lot about the calamity Dillingham Ordinance 2020-22 actually is.

This idea must be postponed for much further public discussion.  Making permanent the ‘emergency’ of Covid/Corona/CV-19 and the ambiguous ever-changing mitigation plan/policy is a far-over-reaching act.  It pretty much puts a perpetual infringement upon the people’s personal rights and their property. The Alaska Constitution says:

Will They Let Us Speak?

 Madam Mayor and City Council Members,

I want to thank the City Council for removing some of the more contentious points that were contained in Ordinance 2020-22.  However, I also want to point out that the people of Dillingham are due a truly public and open forum to discuss moving forward with how to prepare our community for future emergency situations.  The current method of having limited access to our elected government presents too many challenges to accurately and fully hearing the voices of the constituents. 

 

Over the past several months of listening in to these telephonic meetings that can prove to be quite challenging has clearly shown that doing the business of We the People over telephone and internet connections is lacking.  On numerous occasions I have missed comments and points made by fellow citizens, government employees and our elected representatives.  I can absolutely guarantee that I am not the only person that feels like we are being shortchanged by the current meeting methods. 

Over the past 3 weeks the Council has received letters asking that Ordinance 2020-22 be tabled/halted until a public forum can occur.  By including this modified version of the ordinance for adoption in the upcoming meeting, it’s clearly showing that the Council would rather limit public participation in Our government rather than meet with the people to hear them out.  I would like to encourage all Council members to reject the adoption of Ordinance 2020-22 and to stop changing the already existing ‘emergency’ ordinance as well.  The mitigation efforts already being ‘enforced’ in Dillingham are in-line with the State and Federal guidelines and do not need to be expanded or modified in any way. 

 

Thank You all for your volunteer service for Our community and I look forward to hearing from all of you soon.  We mustn’t tarry when dealing with timely issues and the will of the people is the most important facet of effective elected governance.

Today In History 11-01-2020

 

The Stamp Act of 1765 (short title: Duties in American Colonies Act 1765; 5 George III, c. 12) was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain which imposed a direct tax on the British colonies in America The purpose of the tax was to pay for British military troops stationed in the American colonies after the French and Indian War, but the colonists had never feared a French invasion to begin with, and they contended that they had already paid their share of the war expenses.  Tha tax became effective on November 1, 1765.

 

The Stamp Act was very unpopular among colonists. A majority considered it a violation of their rights as Englishmen to be taxed without their consent—consent that only the colonial legislatures could grant. Their slogan was "No taxation without representation". Colonial assemblies sent petitions and protests, and the Stamp Act Congress held in New York City was the first significant joint colonial response to any British measure when it petitioned Parliament and the King.

 

 Local protest groups established Committees of Correspondence which created a loose coalition from New England to Maryland. Protests and demonstrations increased, often initiated by the Sons of Liberty and occasionally involving hanging of effigies. Very soon, all stamp tax distributors were intimidated into resigning their commissions, and the tax was never effectively collected.^[7]

 

The Sons of Liberty was a secret revolutionary organization that was founded by Samuel Adams in the Thirteen American Colonies to advance the rights of the European colonists and to fight taxation by the British government. It played a major role in most colonies in battling the Stamp Act in 1765.^[1] The group officially disbanded after the Stamp Act was repealed. However, the name was applied to other local separatist groups during the years preceding the American Revolution.^[2]

In the popular thought, the Sons of Liberty was a formal underground organization with recognized members and leaders. More likely, the name was an underground term for any men resisting new Crown taxes and laws.^[3] The well-known label allowed organizers to make or create anonymous summons to a Liberty Tree, "Liberty Pole", or other public meeting-place. Furthermore, a unifying name helped to promote inter-Colonial efforts against Parliament and the Crown's actions. Their motto became "No taxation without representation."^[4]

Sometimes things in life just do NOT have to be complicated.  Adding too much into a process can often serve counter to the purpose to begin with.  For example, when writing a letter to elected representatives of We the People, the author should strive to get the point across in the opening paragraph.  Adding too much verbiage and details that can be brought up later will often cause the reader’s eyes to glaze over and their mind to gloss over the entire intent.

 

This is especially true when dealing with complex topics that have many facets to consider… such as mitigation efforts to stifle the potential spread of a contagion that could possibly pose a potential risk to segments of the population. The issues surrounding the Covid-19/Corona virus are a myriad of emotions and science that can easily be construed to portray whatever a person wants them to say. Currently the Dillingham City Council is striving to maintain operations in a manner to keep people safe… but the language of proposed ordinance 2020-22 is far to ambiguous and essentially places our community in a perpetual ‘State of Emergency’.

 

After various communications with just two of the elected representatives of the people of Dillingham, I can pretty much say that the City Council is not going to ‘table’ the ordinance during next week’s meeting.  They have repeatedly communicated that they are not willing to hold a public in-person forum so that We the People may redress our concerns about the language of 2020-22.  This is disappointing to say the least… but is also very indicative of the issues that We face in getting the governance that We deserve from Our government.

The US Constitution:

“Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

That word ‘Congress’ is interchangeable with any term used to describe any position of governance such as assembly or council. The US Constitution is not a granting of any rights… it is a document that defines what the government cannot do and what rights We the People have secured as Ours.  When a government entity takes it upon itself to grow bureaucracy and ignore the people, then it has out served its purpose and must be replaced in order to stop the potential for tyranny.

10-19-2020 through 10-23-2020 aka FRUSTRATION & FUTILITY

 On Monday, I posted a ranting about the newest version of the City of Dillingham’s proposed ‘Emergency’ ordinance as pertaining to the Covid-19 ‘crisis’.  In that ranting I used some stronger language than I normally do and I left out something that I usually proffer when I write about public issues, a suggested solution.  When I was asked about this, I had to stop and think about what a positive spun solution would look like.  I drew a blank…

 

This drawing of a blank is due to factors that are beyond my control and/or influence:

1.    Despite the overwhelming opposition to continued expansion of government powers of the people they are supposed to be representing, the elected officials in Dillingham have wholly chosen to ignore the people in favor of pandering to their good ole’ boy network of family, friends and co-workers. Those are the people that benefit the most from totalitarian governance and selective administration of the resources of the people. 

2.    I do on a regular basis reach out and submit comments, suggestions and complaints to my elected representatives in all 3 levels of Our government.  I rarely get any response from the federal level other than stock reply messages with no follow-up.  On the State level, I get a bit more interaction depending on which legislators I reach out to on topics.  I never get replies from Senator Hoffman… and the only replies I’ve ever received from Representative Edgmon are complaints and admonishments based on my written rants.  Nary a reply to positive action suggestions on topics like intrastate drug trafficking, high shipping costs or helping our neighboring communities.  The same rings entirely true with my interactions with local elected officials… and I know that I am not the only one that has experienced these circumstances while dealing with the governments of We the People.  

3.    Trying to play nice or using honey to attract interaction is proving to be a futile effort in today’s socio-political environment. So many people have been sucked into the self-glorification of politics and power that they have forgotten the basics of the American way and dream.  When I write to Our representatives on issues and such; I always remain civil, factual and offer thought out suggestions/solutions. For example… as a founding member of the fbook group called ‘theBAYpac’, I led the authoring of several pieces aimed at addressing some rather serious socio-economic issues that are taking their toll on Southwestern Alaska.  All of these commentaries were also sent/submitted to all manner or government entities. Guess what… no replies in the positive or negative.  

 

 

So, what is it going to take to make the City Council ‘WOKE‽’

 

FRIDAY UPDATE:  Since Monday I have peened and transmitted a letter to the Mayor and the entire Council on the topic of ‘Emergency Ordinance 2020-22’ which I publicly posted here:

“Just one thing that I would note.  We have had more participation in recent meetings than I recall having in many years and I presume that it is because residents have been able to call in to participate.”

Nothing about the actual substance of the letter at all.  This type of communications is what I have begrudgingly learned to accept from the elected representatives of We the people on all levels.  Just last week I sent a copy of my post called ‘Taxation Without Representation’ (https://jonrcorbett.blogspot.com/2020/10/taxation-without-representation.html) to the Mayor and Council… with one reply:

Not one mention of the actual topic… no follow through… no phone calls… nothing whatsoever.  I can show this to be the pattern that is situation normal for them for years. Now not to whine about this too much… but it is disheartening to essentially be ignored by elected officials on a consistent and regular basis.  When elected, they swear an oath to represent ALL constituents, not just their buddies and paycheck signers. The ideal of representative government is that ALL the people have a voice and you get out of it what you put in.  That is NOT what’s happening in Dillingham or the rest of Western Alaska... heck not in the rest of the republic either.  So, I ask again…

Dillingham 'Emergency' Ordinance 2020-22 Letter to the Mayor and Council Members

To:       Mayor Alice Ruby, City of Dillingham Alaska

            City Council Members

            

Re: Emergency Ordinance 2020-22

 

Dear Madam Mayor and Members of the City Council,

 

In reviewing the newest version of the ‘Emergency’ ordinance that is being proposed to replace the previous version of the ordinance meant to address the issues surrounding how to adequately deal with Covid-19, one thing is very apparent.  There is no need to expand any further powers to be granted to hired employees.  Specifically, legislating that an employee of the people of Dillingham be placed in the position of ordering medical procedures, ordering the seizure of private property, placing restrictions upon the free-will use of private property and/or suspending any enacted laws/codes. The Alaska Constitution clearly states that We the people are the rightful owners of our own property and the rewards of our own industry and further explains that the people are the source of government and that it exists for the equal benefit of all people.  

The language being used in EO 2020-22 is ambiguous enough that a casual reader may comprehend that the ordinance is either designed to transfer power from the representatives of the people to a singular non-representative entity OR it is designed to expand the daily powers of the city government apparatus to what equates to be very much an over-reach.  Not long ago, I wrote a letter to the recipients of this letter on May 7 of this year and said this:

 

“I am writing to voice a couple of concerns about the unfortunate situation that our community, region, state, nation and world find ourselves trapped in.  The only thing that can be said of this is that none of Us can predict what the outcome will be, but all of Us should be working cooperatively and responsibly to ensure that We do not create more government bureaucracy that servs to hinder individuality and personal successes of the people.  It’s a well-known fact that once a government entity chooses to create more of itself, it almost never undoes it.”

 

I would like to suggest that the Council consider putting any vote on Emergency Ordinance 2020-22 on hold until after a in-person public hearing is held where the people can all line up to speak to the issues on a first come, first serve basis.  Not in the typical format of speaking by appointment and by-favor, but one where the general public is allowed to be heard by the council and each other. There’s no reason that this cannot be held…and held very soon in the DHS Gymnasium with social distancing and masks.

Constitutional Marriage… Does Not Exist

 One of the hot button topics in the American socio-political scene today is the issue of ‘gay’ marriage.  Personally, I find this almost hilarious… as I thought all marriages are supposed to be gay.  You know, Gay being another word for happy. But also, because ‘marriage’ is actually not any of the government’s business and it wasn’t until the Catholic Church and the Church of England decided that secular government needed to put regulations upon civil unions.

 

Where in the US Constitution is there any mention whatsoever of giving government permission to regulate personal relationships?  The actual establishment of government rules surrounding marriage stems directly from trying to control relationships between the lower economic classes of people so as to limit the possibility of those people becoming too prolific and eventually too much for the ruling class to control.  

 So here We have something that originated as a religious practice…. Taken over by the corporate churches and government to stop something they disagreed with because it posed a threat to their power structure.  Nowadays its existence is so heavily controlled by government that the people have basically lost its meaning.  Since there is no mention of marriage in the US Constitution and it is a religious practice… any and all laws regulating it are unconstitutional.  In fact, the act of having to ask the government for permission to marry is also unconstitutional. 

But let’s move on to the ‘hot’ portion of this topic… the ‘rights’ of non-heterosexuals to marry.  All persons have the right to ‘marry’.  No particular group of people can lay claim to ‘ownership’ of the practice of marriage.  Even though the idea of marriage is brought up numerous times in the Bible, most all religions also have practices relating to the civil union between people. Those religions also have things to say about homosexuality and sexual relations in general.  But since America was basically founded on the ideals of Christian liberty… let’s stick to how government control of this religious practice is just wrong and should be abolished.

In Genesis, God creates Eve for Adam and the ideas of basic marriage begin.  Even though Hebrew doesn’t really have a word for marriage, the idea of a civil union between Man and Woman is defined.  It wasn’t until the mid-1500s that Christian nations began to legally define marriage following the Council of Trent’s declaration that no marriage is legal or recognized unless it is done by the Catholic church and is solely between Catholics.  A century later, the Church of England got the United Kingdom to pass a law stating that only marriages approved by the Church were legal. Not long after that, communities in the ‘new world’ began enacting anti-miscegenation laws.  The first ‘marriage licenses’ in the ‘new world’ came about in 1639 in Massachusetts.  Once the government took it upon itself to regulate social circumstances, things have gone downhill.

 

 

 

The marriage between Luisa de Abrego, a free black domestic servant from Seville and Miguel Rodríguez, a white Segovian conquistador in 1565 in St. Augustine (Spanish Florida), is the first known and recorded Christian marriage anywhere in what is now the continental United States.

 

 

 

Troll Hunting

For the past two years, a facebook profile with the name 'Corey Struthers' has been interjecting into the Alaska political theatre under false pretenses.  This personal facebook profile does not represent a real person.  It is really in fact the creation of Allen Michael Chambers (https://www.facebook.com/chambones).  Yesterday I chose to block & report the fake account to facebook.  This morning I got the following message from facebook:

So I was going to go and get some other things from the Corey Struthers profile and found out that I had been blocked.  No Biggie... a fake account blocking me really isn't a big deal. However I am posting all of this to bring a better light to the situation at hand.

Dear Governor Johnson

Facebook Chat Event…

I logged in this afternoon and got a notice that Gary Johnson; one of the candidates vying for the Libertarian nomination for the 2016 US Presidential election had invited me to “participate” in a Facebook Chat Event.  Now this isn’t the first time that I’ve received invites to participate in such an ‘event’ and most likely won’t be the last, but I approach this one with doubts.  You see, I became involved with an organization known as the Our America Initiative about a year ago and began learning some rather interesting things about how the Libertarian Party works.  I also gained insight about how the 2012 Gary Johnson campaign was run and the interactions of some fellow Alaskans had with the Governor’s organization during the 2014 election cycle. 

I recently experienced a bit of this when a person representing NSON Opinion Strategy in Slat Lake City attempted to get me to Volunteer to run Candidate Johnson’s Alaska efforts.  So not having the resources or gumption to burn my time, experience and connections for a campaign effort that isn’t willing to at least pay me minimum wage, I declined.  Alaska is a big state physically, but very, very small politically.  However, I will participate in this ‘event’ by submitting the following questions:

1.   Where do you stand on slowing down the duplicitous growth of government at all levels including new defense research, development, adoption and implementation of costly war devices. Please feel free to give us some specifics on ideas and solutions to this?

2.   Where do you stand on getting special influence entities out of American and Alaskan politics and policymaking and please give us some specifics on ideas and solutions?  Would you support an abandonment of the archaic Electoral College System in favor of a true One Person-One Vote System?

3.   Where do you stand on maintaining Veteran’s benefits to match economic conditions… i.e. should they be protected and mandated for funding to at least keep up with federal COLA levels?

4.   Where do you stand on establishing energy independence for Alaska and America through a comprehensive and all inclusive plan aimed at establishing new economic opportunity and jobs in America?

5.   Where do you stand on the militarization of domestic law enforcement and the use of Department of Defense resources such as the NSA to spy on Americans?

6.   Where do you stand on the issue of indefinite detention and possible assassination of Americans without due cause as provided for in the NDAA 2012 and 2014?

7.   Where do you stand on the safe labeling of consumer foods and medications so that consumers can have a clear choice as to what they are paying to consume?

8.   Where do you stand on the issue of genetically modified and even artificial organisms being introduced into the food chain and should they receive preferential treatment by government agencies during testing and review processes?

9.   Where do you stand on protecting Alaska’s natural resources for the best sustainable benefit to everyone including the surrounding environment as required by the Alaska State Constitution?

10.                 Where do you stand on ensuring that the children of Alaska get the highest standard of Education possible that is financed through fiscally responsible and economic feasible programs?

11.                 Where do you stand on the National legalization of the Industrial development of Hemp to aid in providing America with it’s Own sustainable resources?

12.                 Where do you stand on School Choice and do you think that religious/faith based/located/tribal schools should also be able to receive the benefits of school choice? 

13.                 Where do you stand on restructuring the US Tax Code to be simpler and more universal in it’s application and rates?

14.                 Do you support an audit of the US Federal Reserve and are you open to restructuring how the Fed interacts with the US monetary system and economy?

15.                 Do you support the national healthcare solution that is currently in-place and what are your suggestions for fixing any flaws that you see?
